He stared at the screen, the cursor blinking mockingly on the blank document. He could hardly bring himself to look at the article. The joy he’d felt when he'd first seen it, the relief, was instantly replaced by a tight, suffocating panic. It was a perfect piece. His piece. Now, under a different name.

The room was too hot. He needed to be cold. He rose abruptly, went to the fridge and poured himself a glass of ice water, but didn’t drink.

He ran a hand through his hair, leaving it a mess. He felt a constant tension in his jaw, as if he was grinding his teeth. The urge to smash something was overwhelming. He sat back down but knew he wouldn't be able to stay.
